Bhagavan Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya

These 26 diaries were in the custody of Yogivar Sri Satya Charan Lahiri Mahasaya (grandson Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya). He, on a later date, commanded his most advanced disciple Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee to write a spiritual and authentic biography of Lahiri Baba by entrusting him with those 26 invaluable diaries. The following books, authored by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee are directly based on these 26 divine diaries:

  • Purana Purusha Yogiraj Sri Shama Churn Lahiree
  • Who Is This Shama Churn
  • Shamachurn Kriyayoga O Advaitabad

Short descriptions:

Purana Purusha Yogiraj Sri Shama Churn Lahiree:

The book is a remarkable blend of spirituality, literature and philosophy based on the life of Yogiraj Sri Shama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya. It is actually part biography and part commentary on Lahiri Mahasaya’s life, on the Indian scriptures, including The Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads etc.  An ultimate guide and a must read for all the soul-seekers and all initiated into the blessed path of Kriya yoga.  The most sacred and secret science of Kriya yoga – explained; taking reference directly from none other than Swayang Brahma Lahiri Mahasaya.

Purana Purusha by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee

Interestingly, there is enough previously unpublished material about Lahiri Mahasaya’s life that it is well worth reading for that alone. It is wonderful to learn of even the mundane occurrences in the great yogi’s life, such as how he would take tiffin with a little amount of ghee and sugar for breakfast and smoke a hookah everyday after dinner, and how he travelled often by boat to the court of the King to tutor his son. These warming and inspiring stories bring Lahiri Mahasaya even closer to heart.

Going further deep, the book focuses on the scientific essence of ancient Indian Yoga sadhana and it’s ideals as revived by Bhagavan Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya. It traces back the origin of the term ‘Kriya yoga‘which is also mentioned in Yoga Sutra by Maharshi Patanjali and was later changed to ‘Karmayoga‘ by Sri Krishna. It puts light on the ancient scriptures and tries to find out their true meaning, hiding behind, from the yogic perspective. The book describes Yogiraj’s search for his guru Mahavatar Babaji, his exalted yogic state.

The book This book has mass appeal & has been translated and published in Telugu, Oriya, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Assamese, Malayalam and English, French, original being in Bengali.

Kriya yoga books - "Purana Purusha" and "Who Is This Shama Churn"

Kriya yoga books

A book of this stature cannot be written only with a command of knowledge, language or with possessing the writing faculty. For this is required sadhana-derived realization. The authenticity of this biography lies in the introduction where Sri Satyacharan Lahiri Mahasaya; grandson of Yogiraj Shama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya, commands his disciple the author Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee, who was then an exalted Kriyaban having meticulously and assiduously completed the higher stage of Kriyas to write the biography.

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee Mahasaya and Yogivar Sri Satyacharan Lahiri Mahasaya

He had furnished many details regarding his Grandfather Shyama Charan Lahiri to the author who has judiciously incorporated these into the book. Unlike biographies of great personalities it is rather difficult to compose biographies of yogis. In the spiritual world, external manifestations are almost absent in the lives of yogis. Biographies of noble yogis are based on essences beyond senses rather than facts bearing external manifestations. As and when necessitates yogis exhibit miracles, but the ideals they establish or the path of sadhana which they introduce to mankind for the attainment of salvation is more secret than secretive, the path which if followed by man can enable him to arrive at his ultimate and highest objective and this facet is regarded to be the greatest one in their biographies.

Who Is This Shama Churn:

This book unfolds the true essence and esotery of Yogiraj Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya, the Fountain-Head of Kriya yoga, the Greatest Household-Yogi with an impeccable stroke of dexterity by the author. Author has laid bare the essence, concept, philosophy, the Esse, the sublime spirituality and spiritual sublimity of Shyama Charan for human comprehension.

Kriya yoga book - "Who is This Shama Churn" by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee

Who is This Shama Churn

Through the purview of dharmaic history, philosophy, science, spirituality, Yoga-sastra, mathematics, astrology and Sanatana Dharma, a profound exegesis on the Life and Ideals of Yogiraj Shyama charan Lahiri Mahasaya has been conferred in this book. For the first time such an introspective scientific rational expatiation on Shyama charan resulting in harmonious fusion of history, philosophy, religion, logic, science is done. This book unfolds the truth that Shyama charan is Indefinable, Unquestionable, Non-Answerable, Incomparable, Non-Debatable, Indefinable, Irrefutable and indivisible. Shyama Charan vis-a-vis Bhagavan Krishna, Bhagavan Rama, the four yugas, Babaji has been delineated with an intrinsic easefulness in this book. This book unravels the essence of Prana lucidly yet in a compelling manner and explains the abstruse esotery of Prana. The book is forceful yogic expose on Prana scientifically (yogic science) analyzing the Esse of Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiri- Absolute Prana, the Origin and Mergence, the Progenitor, the Primordial; everything within and beyond yet nothing, thus the Allness yet Nothingness. This is essentially a book for soul-seekers. It expounds the fact that spirituality transcends so called religion. Through this book the author has exposed the flagrant nudity of religion and spiritual culture being abided by today. At the end of the book in the Appendix both the Horoscopes of Bhagavan Krishna and Bhagavan Sri Shyama Charan has been assessed. This book has mass appeal throughout India and abroad and has been translated and published in Hindi and English, original being Bengali.

God Realization || The eternal science of Kriya yoga – assemblage of Raja yoga, Hatha yoga and Laya yoga

It is commonly noticed that most people practice Hathayoga. While practicing asanas, they think that they are practicing yoga. The practice of Hathayoga imparts physical benefits no doubt, but it does not provide any lead in the finding of the soul within the body nor does it make the mind still.

Again, one cannot enter the spiritual realm if the mind is not made still. For this the practice of Rajayoga is essential.

Kriya yoga_6 Chakras_Prana Vibration_Yogiraj Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya_Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee_Purana Purusha_Who Is This Shama Churn_Kriya Yoga book

Prana Vibration along Chakras on the Spinal cord

Until self-realization, permanent settlement or visualization Kutustha-consciousness occurs, till then human life cannot be complete.

Bruvormadhye pranamavesya samyak, sa tam param purushamupaiti divyam.

– if the mind and prana are placed between the eyebrows completely, the Supreme Being can be realized and the supreme state attained.

To achieve this, an assemblage of Rajayoga, Hathayoga and Layayoga is required.

Rajayoga enables the mind to become still. Layayoga enables self-realization and Hathayoga is necessary to eliminate the exhaustion arising from the practice of Rajayoga and Layayoga.

Hathayoga assists in activating the benumbed body caused by a prolonged sitting session in the same asana.
We search for God in the Heaven, in the Milky Sea, in places pilgrimage, in temples, churches and mosques, but are unaware of the fact that He is constantly prevalent in our body, between the eyebrows and the sages have stipulated directly how to perceive Him and have denoted the path of sadhana technique.

But with the progress of time, this technique of sadhana became obsolescent, chiefly because it depended entirely on the austerities of sadhana.

Om_Yogiraj Sri Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya_preachings and quotes_Purana Purusha_Kriya yoga_Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee

The Yogic significance of the most sacred 'Om'

For such sadhana, a considerable period of time and patience are required which nobody feels inclined to do.

The main reason for this is, in the present age many Gurus preach that by touching the head, one falls into Samadhi, the mind attains stillness etc. Thus, who is willing to waste time?

But a bit of contemplation regarding this will enable everyone to understand, that to achieve One for which renouncement of all sorts of earthly pleasures is necessary, can He be so easily attained?

It has to be admitted by all that in the body-temple, God exists between the eyebrows as the Soul. Without searching for such a Truth we frantically run about.

We have been hearing about Three Deities – Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. But the One who controls them from behind is never perceptible nor will ever be perceptible. Yet quest for Him or for that Truth provides Life’s happiness.

kriya-yoga_bhagavan-sri-sri-shyamacharan-lahiri-mahasaya_yogacharya-dr-ashoke-kumar-chatterjee_purana-purusha_original

Bhagavan Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya

We Indians, followers of the Vedic faith pay our homage to the Holy Triad. But people in other parts of the world are unaware of the names of the Three Deities. Yet none disregards the creation, preservation and dissolution or the three attributes, sattva, rajas and tamas, because these three attributes are existent everywhere? The respective functions of the three attributes have been explained as idols in accordance with the philosophical essence. These forms can be visualized if the mind is made still in any manner, it surely is a state of the mind’s stillness and a few hints pertaining to this can be obtained, but all these are illusory. Because if these images were real as well as eternal, then if the mind of any person of any country or of any religious follower was made still, he also could visualize these forms. But this is not possible. They visualize only those facts they are conscious of or have an idea about. But if the mind is made still between the eyebrows, Soul or Kutastha-Brahma can be visualized and is possible to be visualized by each and every sadhaka of the world. There is no difference here.

‘Samadhi’ – excerpts from the Holy book ‘Purana Purusha’; spiritual biography and commentary of Yogiraj Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya

Lit. eighth and final stage of eightfold yoga yam, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, samadhi.

Prana Vibrations along Chakras in spinal cord

Yogically by practising austere samadhi one has to surmount each step and proceed, samadhi will arrive at the final stage.

In the samadhi state there is a cessation of body-consciousness, mind and sensory faculties. It is now that the state of sahaja samadhi arrives.

Advancing deeper savikalpa samadhi occurs. Then also soul-visualisation is existent.

Yogiraj Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya

Delving further deeper in the recesses of yoga, a yogi arrives at nirvikalpa samadhi or mahasamadhi which is Kriya’s transcendental state. In this state the yogi merges with the Absolute.
Common man opines that in the state of mahasamadhi, one does not return but this is an erroneous concept. Even after merging with the Absolute to effect human welfare a yogi does return but does not digress from this state.

Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya on ‘Karmayoga’

The action which causes an union with God is karma and to remain united with that karma incessantly is Karmayoga. Others are all inactions. God is not an Object Who has descended from the sky, this is a state. This is the still state of Prana. Still Prana in a living being deriving vibration has assumed the forms of intelligence, mind, senses etc. and remains enchanted by this. This is a living being’s deviated state from his original form or else this is the state of declension from still Prana to dynamic Prana.
Stillness is a living being’s original form. Dynamism represents a living being and stillness represents Siva.
Therefore the action which terminates that dynamism and reverts a living being again to stillness or the action that causes a living being’s state to be extinct and elevates him to the state of Siva, is known as Karmayoga.

Lahiri Mahasaya – Swayang Brahma Himself re-established the eternal and most sacred knowledge of ‘Kriyayoga’.

Kriyayoga‘ is mentioned in Yoga Sutra of Maharshi Patanjali, 15000 years back :

“tapahsvadhyayeshvara pranidhananikriyayogah”  [1st sloka of Sadhana Pada]

Due to Yuga decadence, this most sacred Yoga almost lost into oblivion. But, as Bhagavan promised in Bhagavat Gita that He will appear at the junctures of two yugas, He again descended in the human form as Bhagavan Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya at the Kali yugaSatya yuga juncture. And again He revived Sanatana dharma, which is purely based on Yoga in its truest form.

Books based on the 26 confidential diaries of Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya

Kriya yoga meditation

In this fast-paced world of 21st century, the most sought-after things indeed are serenity and peace. Being at peace with ourselves, within ourselves. The more kinetic the world has become, the more has increased the search for peace.  Over the years, numerous ways have been discovered and tried by many. And probably, the best among them is Dhyana or Meditation.

The obvious questions, now:

  • Does dhyana refer to mere sitting down and concentrating on a certain thing?
  • Or, calmly sitting down and trying to think about nothing?

 And, most importantly:

  •  Can dhyana be performed explicitly or does it happen on its own?

To realize the answers, it’ll be better to dig deeper.

Scientific elaboration of the vibration of Prana along 6 Chakras of spinal cord

Dhyana is mentioned In the Sadhana Pada of Yoga sutra by Maharshi Patanjali. Here Maharshi expatiates on the perpetual, most secret and scientific knowledge of Yoga. Yoga is to be attained through eight different stages.  Yoga – meaning union. Union of individual consciousness with universal consciousness. Where, personal desires cease to exist.

Yoganganushthanadashuddhikshaye jnanadiptiravivekakhyate   [28]
With the performance of the eight-fold yoga, impurities will be eliminated, the Radiance of Beatific jnana[Knowledge] beyond the gunas will expand.

yama niyamasana pranayama pratyahara dharanadhyanasamadhayoshtavangani  [29]
Yama, niyama, asana, pranayam, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi — these are the eight limbs of yoga.

Dhyana is the seventh stage of eightfold yoga. Meditation is undoubtedly the latest craze and it is claimed that it helps in instant self-awakening. However, the truth is, only after succeeding the severely exact six previous stages of yoga discipline, dhyana occurs. Dhyana occurs on its own. It can not be performed as an action point. When, all the sensory faculties and manas[mind] itself become static-as the desire to sit for dhyana even cease to exist. Dhyana is not concentration, rather its realizing the self through Yoga sadhana. Unconditional, endless and selfless LOVE for the eternal flow of Prana prevails. The Sadhana of PranaPranayama. This is when Nishkam karma occurs on its own. Karma that doesn’t generate any karmafal [karmic result]. This is the stage where yogi prepares himself for the final stage of Absolute Union (Samadhi).

The eternal Holy knowledge to reach this state is in fact Brahma vidya as described by Sri Bhagavan in Gita. The supreme science of the soul within. But with Yuga decedance, this Prana Sadhana or Atma vidya sank into oblivion.

Advent of Bhagavan at the Kali Yuga - Satya Yuga juncture

But, as promised by Bhagavan in Gita, He again came in the form of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya on the juncture of Kali Yuga and Satya Yuga. He again revived this Holy knowledge of Brahma Vidya as He imparted the teachings of Kriyayoga. The term ‘Kriyayoga’ is mentioned in Yoga Sutra of Maharshi Patanjali. Although mentioned very often as ‘Kriya Yoga‘, in reality it’s a single word – Kriyayoga. This is only Rajayoga and Karmayoga described in Gita. The knowledge of knowing the self.

The details of Prana-vibration along Spinal cord

Kriyayoga – the primordial and perpetual science of true Sanatana Dharma as revived by Bhagavan Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya. The Dharma of Atman. The Dharma of Prana. According to Sashtra, static state of Prana itself is God. The manifestation of Prana is present in all of us. But, it has to be Realized through Sadhana. And the way to realize Prana is ‘Pranayama’. The Bhagavat Gita talks about this most sacred and secret Pranayama.

apane juhvati pranam prane‘panam tatha‘pare

pranapanagati ruddhava pranayamaparayanah [verse 29: chapter 4]

This Pranayama or Kriyayoga can only be obtained from a Brahma-gyani and self-realized Guru. Only Sadguru can lead a sadhak to the correct path of enlightenment.

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee is a Mahayogi himself and World Kriyayoga Master. His first guru was Sri Annada Charan Sastri, disciple of Sri Panchanan Bhattacharya, an elevated disciple of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri. The author himself being a Mahayogi of the highest echelon, illustriously describes the sublime spiritual life of Lahiree Mahasaya in the book. The book is actually part biography and part commentary on Lahiree Mahasaya’s life, on the Indian scriptures, including The Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. Advent of Bhagavan at different Yuga-junctures. Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya at the Kali Yuga - Satya Yuga juncture

Going further deep, the book focuses on the scientific essence of ancient Indian Yoga sadhana and it’s ideals as revived by Bhagavan Shama Churn Lahiree Mahashaya. It traces back the origin of the term ‘Kriyayoga‘ which is also mentioned inYoga Sutra by Maharshi Patanjali and was later changed to ‘Rajayoga‘ by Sri Krishna. It puts light on the ancient scriptures and tries to find out their true meaning, hiding behind, from the yogic perspective. The book describes Yogiraj’s search for his guru Mahavatar Babaji, his exalted yogic state.

Also the book reavels the true identity of, perhaps the most supreme and enigmatic spiritual entity of India, Mahavatar Babaji.

The book “Puarana Purusha” is undoubtedly the Gita of Satya Yuga (Satya Yuga started from 1895 as soon as Bhagavan Shama Churn left His mortal frame); a must read for all initiated into Kriyayoga and also for all seekers of this blessed path and for everyone else.

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee, World Kriyayoga Master

The author of this book Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee is himself a Mahayogi of the highest order with Kriya experience spanning over more than 5 decades. He is the World Kriyayoga Master. He  teaches KriyaYoga-original and unadulterated, as imparted by none other than Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiree Mahashaya, without any modification in the practice. He was invited as sole representative from India to participate and mediate in the Parliament of World Religionsheld at Val St. Hugon, France in 1997 convened by Dalai Lama and sponsored by United Nations Organization, UNESCO, UNCHR.

Yogacharya ji is also the founder-director of Yogiraj Shyamacharan Sanatan Mission (YSSM). Sole objective of this mission is to spread awareness about Bhagavan Sri Lahiree Mahasaya and also cater the knowledge of unmodified Kriyayoga sadhana to the soul seekers.

Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya and Kriya Yoga

Bhagavan Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya

Of everything, that Indian heritage and culture has offered, probably the supreme is Yoga.  Although, now a days, used in most misleading ways, ‘Yoga’ literally means union. Union of individual consciousness with cosmic consciousness. Individual senses and desires cease to exist. Where the kinetic state of Prana becomes ever-static.  Yoga Sutra of Maharshi Patanjali says:

Niscintya yoga ucyate’ – meaning: The thought-free state is yoga.

Advaita [Non-duality] is acquired in this dominion of Nishkam karma.

This science of Prana is indeed Kriyayoga as being mentioned in Yoga Sutra. The unconditional and never ending LOVE for the most primordial existence of the Universe – Prana. The 1st sloka of Sadhana Pada itself says:

“tapahsvadhyayeshvara pranidhananikriyayogah”

It is described in Shastras, that static state of Prana is the God. This prana is embedded in all human beings in the form of the shvasa [breathing] which keeps fluctuating; the path to make it stable is Kriyayoga. The exercise of Prana – Pranayama.

The Science of Prana Vibration along spinal cord

This Pranayama is quite different than the everyday word ‘pranayama’ that we might be aware of. The pranayama that Kriyayoga talks about is indeed the best and to be done along the spinal cord. Gita describes this to be Raj Vidya and Raj Gujhyang [best of all the knowledges and utmost secret]. Gita talks about this pranayama in Sloka 29 of chapter 4. The oblation of Prana vayu into Apana vayu and vice versa.  This most confidential Kriyayoga gyan can only be obtained from a self-realized Sadguru.

Kriyayoga only is mentioned by ‘Raja yoga’ by Bhagavan Sri Krishna in Gita. This is only Karma yoga. As per the rule of prakriti, due to Yuga decadence, this most sacred Yoga almost lost into oblivion. But, as Bhagavan promised in Bhagavat Gita that He will appear junctures of two yugas, He again descended in the human form of Bhagavan Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya. Thus at the juncture of Treta and Dvapara yuga God himself made His advent in the form of Bhagavan Sri Ramchandra, similarly at the juncture of Dvapara and Kali yuga as Bhagavan Sri Krishna. His principal aim being to re-establish His own ideals and give declining Sanatana Dharma [the eternal religion] a push. Thus accordingly at the end of Kali yuga and beginning of Satya yuga i.e. 5000 years after Lord Krishna’s period God made his re-advent in the form of Lord Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya. This divine child caused His descent on the 30th of September 1828 A.D. at the village Ghurni of Nadia district, West Bengal. Later on, during his childhood only, he moved to Varanasi along with his family.

Advent of God at different Yuga-junctures. Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya at Kali-Satya yuga transition phase

He got initiated into the holy science of Kriyayoga by Mahavatar Babaji during his stay in Ranikhet for official reasons.  In fact, the most supreme and enigmatic character of Indian spirituality – Mahavatar Babaji was another manifestation of Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya Himself. This was to ensure the Guru-Sishya parampara [tradition] is maintained. The way, Bhagavan Sri Krishna found His Sadguru in Muni Sandeepan.

Lahiri baba revived this perpetual science of Atman at the very juncture of Kali Yuga and Satya Yuga Satya yuga started from 1895 when Lahiri Baba left his physical form (Please refer to the book “Who is this Shama Churn” by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee. Mathematical deduction with the count of pranayama, is provided) and bestowed it upon the mankind.

Yogiraj Lahiree Mahasaya used to write down His most exalted yogic realizations in His confidential personal diaries. These are realizations by none other than the fountain-head of Kriyayoga – Bhagavan Lahiree Mahasaya.26 such diaries; they are treasures to the entire world – depicting the true Advaita Sanatana Dharma.

The Holy book 'Purana Purusha'

To feel and know the true essence of Kriyayoga, please read the book:  Purana Purusha Yogiraj Sri Shama Churn Lahiree”, which is based directly on these 26 diaries of Lahiri baba Himself!! Kriya yoga Initiation – the Holy knowledge of Sadhana, original and unmodified as imparted by Bhagavan Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya

Kriyayoga is Brahma_Sadhana/Atmavidya/Brahma_Vidya

Knowing Atman is knowing our self is knowing God. The static state of Prana is God itself. And it’s present in all of us. Ubiquitous, ever flowing Prana is the supreme Truth. Kriyayoga is sadhana of Prana. Prana itself is true Dharma. Dharma which is beyond any colour, creed, communities. The supreme science beyond all other sciences. The science of the Soul or Atman.

‘Kriyayoga’ is mentioned in Yoga Sutra of Maharshi Patanjali. The 1st sloka of Sadhana Pada says:

tapahsvadhyayeshvara pranidhananikriyayogah

Maharshi defines and also depicts the way to sadhana of Kriyayoga.

It’s aligned with the Ashtanga Yoga, where the path of sadhana is illustriously described with different stages.

  1. Yama
  2.  Niyama
  3. Asana
  4. Pranayama
  5. Pratyahara
  6. Dharana
  7. Dhyana
  8. Samadhi

This Kriyayoga only, is Raja Yoga, described by Bhagavan Sri Krishna.

At the end of every chapter in Gita, summary we find as:

…Shrimad_Bhagavat_Gitãsupanishtsu Brahmavidyãyãma Yogashãstre Shri_Krishnãrjuna_Samvãde..

The Brahmavidya that Gita talks about is indeed Yoga. Gita is not merely a book of warfare. It’s indeed much more than that. But, in a coded manner. It reveals the swarup of Yoga – Bhagavan Sri Krishna Himself explaining that. In today’s fast paced world, we often simplify things too much, perhaps at times, more than needed. But, a true and thorough study of Gita will only reveal the bountiful hidden Yogic treasures in it.

Science of Prana Vibration along the spinal cord

By initiation, these latent treasures are unveiled. Sadguru invokes the endless journey of Sadhana in His disciple. It’s the sacred process where the spiritual journey starts off and hidden Soul-Dharma is awakened.

Advent of God at different Yuga junctures - Bhagavan Shyamacharan arriving at the Kali-Satya Yuga_Sandhi

Bhagavan Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya again revived Kriyayoga at the end of Kali Yuga and commencement of Satya Yuga [Satya Yuga started in the year 1895, as Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya left His physical form][ref: “Purana Purusha” and “Who is this Shama Churn” by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee].

The Holy book "Purana Purusha" by Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee

Kriyayoga can only be obtained from a Brahma-gyani Guru. Self-realized masters are very rare in the present world. Only Sadguru can lead a sadhak to the correct path of enlightenment. This Kriyayoga sadhana can only be obtained from a Sadguru who is alive and who guides the sadhak in each and every aspect of sadhana.

There are many schools and forms of Kriyayoga prevalent in today’s world from different lineages. One such lineage is Yogiraj Sri Lahiri Mahasaya – Sri Tin Kori Lahiri Mahasaya – Yogivar Sri Satya Charan Lahiri Mahasaya – Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee. Perhaps less known, but the lineage always maintained the strict norms set by Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya Himself, without committing any change in the practice itself. Kriyayoga – in its most original and unmodified form as imparted by Lahiri Baba himself.

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee, World Kriyayoga Master

Yogacharya Vachaspati Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee is indeed world’s highest Kriyayoga master. Even, at His age of 79, relentlessly spreading the teachings of Lord Shyamacharan. He is also the author of the book “Purana Purusha”, which is directly based on the 26 personal diaries written by Bhagavan Lahiri Mahasaya Himself, on His most exalted Yogabastha.

Who is a Kriyayoga Master ?

A Kriyayoga master is indeed the Sadguru. The Sadguru will guide the disciple in every steps of Sadhana. Its entirely different than the everyday word ‘Guru’ we listen everywhere.

A Sadguru should be soul-knowledgeable, supra-sensory (maintaining passivity despite a young woman embracing him), should attain khecari, be gracious, sastra-conversant, devoid of greed, a magnanimous renouncer (not the superficial renunciation), compassionate, benevolent, tranquil, malice-free, unselfish and atmasadhana-oriented

At present the so-called Gurus whisper those ineffective mystic syllables into the ears of their disciples, considering initiation to be complete.

Noticing this unscrupulous and businesslike attitude towards religion in our country, the Great Soul Kabirdas with intense grief expressed:—

Kan phukne ka guru aur hai,

Behad ka guru aur;

Behad ka guru yo mile,

Panhuca deowe thour.

The idea of the above verse may be represented as follows:—

The Gurus who cast spells in the ears are of one kind and the boundless Gurus are of another kind, the one who acquires a boundless Guru is brought to his exact destination.

Thour means Dhama which in the real sense, is “Ultimate Abode‘.

Advent of Lahiri Mahasaya at the Kali-Satya Yuga Sandhi

One such Kriyayoga master is Yogacharya vachaspati Dr.Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee[Disciple of grandson of Yogiraj Lahiri mahasaya-Satyacharan Lahiri mahasaya]. With his experience in Kriyayoga, spanning more than 5 decades. He is propagating the lineage of correct Kriyayoga without any modification in the practice imparted by Lahiri mahasaya himself.

Lahiri baba gave this eternal Kriyayoga to all household people as a result he was called as ”GRIHASTHA BHAGWAN”. He revived back this Brahmasadhana for the sake of household people. Yogacharya Dr. Chatterjee had reached the pinnacle of kriyayoga within a short span. His first guru was Sri Annada Charan Sastri ,disciple of Sri Panchanan Bhattacharya,an elevated disciple of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri..After Sastri ji’s demise, Dr.Chatterjee obtained initiation from Sri Sundarlal Lala of Varanasi & later from Sri Satyacharan Lahiri, grandson of Yogiraj. Yogacharya Dr. Chatterjee is now acknowledged as World Kriyayoga Master.

Yogacharya ji has penned many books in bengali, illustrating the science of Kriyayoga. Most of his books have been published in English and also in indian languages like hindi, oriya, telugu, marathi, gujarathi, tamil, malyalam. The most famous ”Purana Purusha Yogiraj Sri Shama Churn Lahiree” has been published in French also. This book is a must read for all the devotees. The book is based on the 26 personal diaries written by Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya himself.

He has founded Yogiraj Shyamacharan Sanatan Mission (YSSM) and the temple of Yogiraj at Kakdwip, West Bengal, India and in Pune, Inida.with the objective that mankind can derive the original and unmodified Kriyayoga revived by Yogiraj.

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee, World Kriyayoga Master

Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee was invited as the sole representative from India to participate in the parliament of world religions held at Val St.Hugon, france in 1997 convened by Dalai Lama & sponsored by UNO,UNESCO,UNCHR. His call to mankind in this parliament was “ONE WORLD, ONE RELIGION, ONE GOD, ONE MAN”.
